Fall Break: Disney World Part 1 {Animal Kingdom}

Fall Break 2018:  We took Sonoma and Cora on their very first trip to Disney World!!  While we missed Blakesley so very much, we thought that 6 & 8 were the perfect ages to really experience it all.  No naps, diapers, strollers, and Cora could ride all but just two (2) of the rollercoasters!  It was truly a magical, wonderful trip.  I am so grateful we got to experience this with our oldest two daughters.  We cannot wait to come back and take Blakesley!

We arrived to Disney late on Monday night and just stayed the night at the Hyatt in the airport.  That way, on Tuesday, we could wake up early and head right to our hotel and our 1st theme park for the week.  We stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and I am so happy that we picked that particular Disney property resort.  It was an African themed resort and all of the African animals are living on the resort property and come right up to outside your room balconies!  It was SO cool waking up every morning to walk outside and see what animals were hanging around!

Our first park was Animal Kingdom and our first day was nothing short of absolutely magical!  We all absolutely loved Animal Kingdom! The highlight of the day ( and also my all time favorite ride out of every ride/rollercoaster/experience I've ever been on in any theme park) was Avatar Flight of Passage.  Oh my gosh it was amazing!  We did it twice ! Other highlights included:  riding Expedition Everest twice, the Festival of the Lion King show, Dinosaur ride, and eating dinner at Tusker House with Mickey, Donald, Daisy and Goofy.

Very 1st character meet and greet!

Our very 1st ride:  Dinosaur!  A little scary!

Waiting in line at our favorite ride:  Avatar Flight of Passage

Safari Trip!

Expedition Everest:  Such a cool rollercoaster!

Cora was SO brave!  The 1st time she went on a couple of big rides she hated them and cried, and then by the 2nd time ( after major convincing ) she ended up loving them and we were so proud of her!  She was such a trooper too with all of the walking!

Such a fun dinner at Tusker House! The girls were excited to start collecting their autographs!

The Festival of the Lion King show was spectacular!  We LOVED all of the singing, dancing and most of all the gymnastics and acrobatics.

The Tree of Life light show at night!

We averaged about 10 miles a day of walking, and around 28,000 steps a day.  It was CRAZY how much walking we did.  And like I said before, we were so proud of Cora because that was a lot for her!  The girls really didn't complain much about the lines, walking and the heat. ( it was in the 90s every day! )  They were at great ages to understand that we had to walk and wait and be in the heat to experience all of the cool things!
