December Fun

December is SUCH a fun month, especially with a 3 & a 5 year old.  Every day has so much magic and there are plenty of teaching opportunities throughout this joyous season.  

Cora has an obsession with Mistletoe.  She asked what it was after hearing it in a song, and continues to ask about it every single day.  I finally found some real mistletoe and surprised her!  She was really excited!

The girls said their tree needed candy canes.

Uh Oh, Pizza found our Christmas card!

Sonoma's catalog finally arrived!  She was thrilled to see herself in print! 

Even though I drive Sonoma to the bus stop ( it's quite a ways from our house ) she insists on getting out and being the FIRST in line of all the kids ( even if it is 30 degrees out)

Cora brought home a beautiful drawing from PDO. Her teachers said they were really impressed with her artistic skills.  I have to agree!  Love her tree and all of her people!

I LOVE that Sonoma wants to read to Cora all the time

 Sonoma brought home a library book on Friday - one that is 57 pages long and she read the ENTIRE book BY HERSELF!!  We were sooo proud of her!

 

 We took the girls to the Brookfield Zoo light display last night with the Palmers.  What a fun, magical evening to close out our awesome weekend! (*Side note - one NOT awesome thing that happened was our Christmas tree fell over twice on Saturday night. )  I was so upset, as it was such an awful, sad mess.  I had just finished wrapping everyone's gifts and the tree water spilled over everywhere and ruined my wrapping, all of the cards, and of course we lost some really special ornaments.  And the mess was just beyond.  About midnite after getting most of it cleaned up, the tree fell over AGAIN.  Sunday, Marcus had his work cut out for him, as he shaved off branches and "fixed" our tree.  Fingers crossed it stays.  I really hope that never happens again.

Okay, back to the Zoo:

 Not the best pictures, but it was a really cool event!  We have had a membership for a few years, but have never made it out to the lights until this year!

We had a really fun weekend, but it was good to be back to just me and Cora today.  Grocery shopping and making salads.  Two of our weekly rituals!
