Cora Brighton Fischer was born on Saturday, August 18th, 2012 at 1:54 AM. She weighed in at 6 pounds, 9 ounces and was 18.5 inches long. She has dark hair and dark blue eyes. We are beyond thrilled that she is finally here, and most importantly, healthy as can be. She is such a sweet, sweet baby and we are so in love. Early in the morning on Friday, August 17th, my water started leaking, but at first I didn't even know. It wasn't until later in the day when it completely broke and we knew it was time to get to the hospital. T and Grandma raced up from Bloomington, Indiana to come to our house to stay with Sonoma. As soon as we checked into the hospital around 5:30 PM, I was immediately started on Pitocin, since I wasn't having contractions. My parents arrived at the hospital after they drove in from Bloomington, IN and hung out in the room with me and Marcus while I waited to dilate. Around 10:30 pm I received my epidural and about 1:45 am I knew it was time. I only pushed for 5 minutes ( it's true - 2nd deliveries are way, way easier! ) and Cora was in my arms a few minutes before 2:00 am.
We are so thankful to have another beautiful, healthy, sweet, baby girl!
Daddy did such a great job the entire time and I couldn't have gotten through everything without his support. And what would we have done without our amazing parents??? I don't even want to think about that! They have been so incredible the past four days with being there for us, taking care of Sonoma, showering her with gifts and lots of love and taking care of our house and Dixie.
Sonoma is already the BEST big sister. You never know how things are going to go with a two year old, but we were so happy with how things turned out. Sonoma was SO excited to come to the hospital and meet Cora. She just kept saying over and over, "Aww, cute! Aww, cute!" "When older, hold Cora." She just kept giving Cora hugs and kisses and petting her head. It also helped that Sonoma received lots of big sister presents from everyone. She felt extra special.
