San Diego Trip {Our Last One America Convention}

This post is long overdue, but here it is.  My trip to San Diego for the One America Convention that my Dad earned.  He worked his butt off for this trip, and then didn't even get to enjoy it.  Instead, my Mom, Sister and I went in his honor and accepted his award.  It was so incredibly hard and so incredibly humbling.  I didn't deserve to be on that trip, but there I was.  It was very nice to have a trip with my Mom and Sister though.  The last time three of us took a trip together was back in 2004!

View from our hotel

When we arrived to San Diego, we immediately went exploring in the little Sea Village shops by our hotel.  We found a smashed penny machine, and just like my Dad would have done, I made pennies for the girls.

We found a really cool Indian store that Dad would have loved

Beautiful views from the hotel! This was from the restaurant on the top floor

The first evening was a welcome reception and party at the pool.

Life long friends.  We have been traveling together for 30 years

The next morning while getting ready, this bird landed on the ledge of our window by our hotel room!  It was really neat!

The next morning at our opening session, we had Dan Thurmon as our guest speaker and he was phenomenal.  He was so energizing and motivating.  I took a page full of notes

We were presented with Dad's award and it was one of those moments that was completely amazing and completely heartbreaking all at the same time.  It sure was nice hearing tributes about Dad and all of the nice things that so many people had to say about him.

We could walk to the fresh fish market from our hotel

We went on a sea lion tour and it was SO cool!

This started out as a bus on land and then it turned into a boat!

Absolutely loved seeing all of the sea lions and seals

Awards Gala

Eating one of Dad's favorite desserts- Creme Brulee

On Sunday we went out to Coronado Island and took the ferry back to the city.  It was beautiful.

My dear friend Todd who lives in Los Angeles, met us in San Diego for the day.  It was so good to see him and catch up!

 San Diego was a trip I will never forget.
