It's so hard to believe that little Miss Cora B is already 1 month old! How did this happen? I've been trying to make myself cherish this snuggly newborn stage as much as I possibly can. She has been such an angel and a complete joy! She really doesn't cry a whole lot except if she is cold, hungry or tired. We have yet to wake up with her crying in the middle of the night because she just makes these sweet little grunting noises. She also snorts a lot like a pig and I could listen to these noises all day long and not get sick of them! She is still giving us a 4 to 6 hour stretch at night and we usually just have to wake up for one middle of the night feeding session. She is still sleeping in her swing, which is in our room. Until she is more comfortable laying flat on her back and until her digestive system is a little more mature, we will keep her in the swing. I've been trying to get her to nap in her moses basket during the day as much as I can. She also LOVES taking naps in Sonoma's beanbag chairs.
Here is Sonoma & Cora each at one month side by side:
Cora's 1 Month doctor stats from this morning's visit:
Weight: 7 lbs 14 oz ( she was 6 lbs 9 oz at birth )
Height: 20 1/4 inches ( she was 18.5 inches at birth)
Sonoma's 1 Month doctor stats:
Weight: 8 lbs 7 oz ( she was 6 lbs 14 oz at birth )
Height: 20 1/4 inches ( she was 19 inches at birth )
Cora is in the 10-20th percentile. Sonoma was in the 25th percentile
And here are some pictures from the last 4 weeks with our Cora Brighton:
Oh! Cora started smiling at 2 weeks old! I usually can get a smile after a feeding if she hasn't fallen asleep. We will have to try to get a better picture when her bib isn't blocking her mouth.
One of my favorite things about Cora is that she is still constantly balled up. She rarely stretches her arms or legs out, and I'm sure it's just because that is how she was in the womb. I love holding her with one hand on my shoulder, because she is usually so tightly curled up in a ball:

The only negative thing that happened recently was last night I started feeling really sick, really fast. By the early evening I could barely move, my whole body felt like jello, I was shaking and chattering, had a fever and I felt like I had the flu. Come to find out, I have mastitis. I was very surprised since breast feeding has been going extremely well with Cora - no problems at all. However, I somehow got an infection and I started antibiotics today. I can't remember the last time I felt this sick, so I really, really hope I get well soon. So far today, I've only gotten worse by the minute, but I'm trying to stay positive. Any other Moms out there who have had mastitis that may have any advice to offer me on how to prevent this from happening again? I really hope that once I get it once, I am not prone to it or anything like that.
