Goodbye, August!

A few weeks ago, I was really sad about summer and August coming to an end.  However, that all changed very quickly!  The girls started getting bored, restless and were in need of some SERIOUS structure.  Thankfully Sonoma started Preschool last week, but we are looking forward to PDO starting this week and having a full, real, week of what our Fall life and schedule is going to be like! We have enjoyed our daily adventures, sleeping in, and not having any real plans, but these little toddlers need a schedule!

We pretended to go to school in a one room school house at Blackberry Farm.  Our friends, Sara and Jonah were in town from Colorado and we had a blast spending the morning together.  It made me realize how badly I wished they lived closer and we could get together more often.

Awww!  Hugs for Jonah!

Sonoma is in my closet all the time.  She always asks me, "When I'm a Mommy can I borrow this? "  Haha!

We took the girls for our annual tradition (that my parents started when I was little)  of Back to School Ice Cream the night before school starts!

We had our annual Neighborhood cookout and Meet N Greet for all the new neighbors last weekend.  A Fire Truck came and the local Firefighters did a demonstration and a lesson for all the kids.  They also got to climb in the truck which the girls loved.

As President of our Homeowners' Association, Marcus was the grill master for the event!  He and Victor did an awesome job grilling together!

Last week I took Cora to a meet the teachers event at PDO.  She did not want to leave, which makes me realize she is more than ready for PDO!  (See all the mosquito bites on her face?  They are BEYOND terrible this year.)

And speaking of bugs, Sonoma is the ultimate bug catcher.  Every day she hunts for new bugs to put in her jars.

Ever since Cora mastered the trapeze at gymnastics, she wants to do the rings all by herself at home

I love our Park District's Nature Center.  Super cool and a fun thing to do on a rainy day!  (or a summer day when your girls are bored of summer!)

BEES!

TURTLES!

Chickfila had their free breakfast week all last week, so we went right at 10:30 and got Chicken Biscuits as a snack/early lunch before we hit the mall

Not only does she sneak in my closet, but Sonoma wants to get ready and  have makeovers at my vanity all the time!

We were so excited for the first High School football game of the season, but it started lightning as soon as we got there on Friday night.  We immediately got shuffled into the gym and never saw the game.  It got cancelled.  Our sweet neighbors gave us a tour of the High School!  It was awesome!

Cora kept yelling "Go Zack Go!"  Zack is our neighbor and a starter for the football team.

Had a fun date night out with Marcus and  dinner with my sweet friend, Sarah who is 39 weeks pregnant with baby #3!

This is what happens after late bedtime, a babysitter, followed by church and playing outside all day.  Snuggles and
naps on the couch.

August, you were a lovely month full of special memories, but we are ready for Fall.  We are ready for so many new beginnings!
Marcus is hosting our neighborhood "Guys' Patio Crawl" tonight, so I am hiding away inside behind the computer in the office :) We feel so blessed to live in such a wonderful neighborhood.  I always prayed that when we built our house and moved to our new neighborhood that we would make friends with everyone around us, and we most certainly have.  I love our neighborhood and I am so proud of Marcus for being the President and all of his hard work he has put into our community!  :)
