Daddy-Daughter Trip {ORD > ATL}

Marcus and Sonoma took a special Daddy-Daughter trip to Atlanta to visit Uncle D, Aunt C, Adair & Flynn.  Sonoma had been looking forward to her second plane ride for quite some time  (she did not remember her first plane ride since she was just 6 months at the time).  She was even more excited when she found out she would be taking Scooter the Traveling Bear from her Preschool.  Scooter teaches the kids about Social Studies and gets to go home with children for different weekends and events and special trips. We will document Scooter's trip on a postcard that Sonoma will help make with pictures, ticket stubs, etc that she can share with her class.

Ready to leave at 5:30 AM on Friday

First stop was the Georgia Aquarium with Uncle D & Adair.  Sonoma said it was so cool

One proud Daddy/Uncle

They had lots of fun at the park and playing outside together.  They had beautiful weather!

Overall, Sonoma had a really fun, wonderful trip and Marcus said she and Adair were instantly best friends.  It really warmed my heart to see so many pictures that Marcus and David texted me throughout the entire weekend.  They got along really well and had a blast together (Flynn too!)  When I asked Sonoma how Flynn was, she said "well, he's really cute, but he did try to knock me over a few times and once he started eating my dress."  HA!!

Unfortunately there was a pretty awful ending to a really special trip.  Late Saturday night, Marcus got violently ill with a stomach bug that David, Carrie and Adair had the week before, and he was sick all Saturday night and Sunday.  He felt good enough to fly home on Sunday late afternoon, so he mustered up the strength and he and Sonoma made their way to the airport.  Sadly enough, Sonoma got the stomach bug at the airport gate and threw up there as well as on the airplane during landing.  I felt SO terrible and awful for Marcus, as he was still super weak and sick himself and had to deal with a sudden onset of projectile vomit and two different airport outfit changes.  He definitely deserves some sort of parent award or badge or super star.  My heart ached so much that I couldn't be there to take care of him or Sonoma.  Poor Sonoma was so sad and upset and her Mommy was nowhere near by {insert more Mommy guilt here!}  Luckily, they came home Sunday night, slept all night, and rested all day Monday.  No one got sick again at home, which was a really good thing.  I didn't pick Cora up from Indiana (more on her trip and my weekend later) until late afternoon Monday.  I kept Cora away from Sonoma and Marcus yesterday even though they both felt fine.  Today Sonoma was in the best spirits and felt great so I am continuing to pray that me and Cora are in the clear and do not get sick.

I'm so happy that Sonoma was able to spend quality time with her cousins and Aunt and Uncle, as well as Marcus spending some quality time with his brother and niece and nephew. Lots of great memories from the weekend!
