Trip to Bloomington!

On Thursday morning, Mom drove me, Sonoma and Dixie back down to Bloomington.  It was my cousin Jason's graduation party on Sunday, (CONGRATS!) so we decided to come down early with Mom so we didn't have to make the drive all by ourselves.  Sonoma was anxious to get to Mimi and Pa's house and find all of her toys waiting for her.  She was most excited to see Sassy, my very old, mean, cat.  Sonoma loved on Sassy all week and weekend until Sassy finally scratched her :(

Of course she was also excited to see Wilbur, but I think Wilbur was even more excited to see Dixie!  Dixie and Wilbur have a love-hate relationship, but I really think they enjoyed having each other around when it was all said and done.

It was nice to spend extra time in Bloomington without lots of plans or holidays/events.

Sonoma tried her very first ear of corn on the cob in Bloomington!  She has of course eaten lots of corn, but never on the cob.  She really liked it!

We went to visit Great-Grandpa and Great-Grandma Spore.  Such a fun visit!  And today they celebrate their 62nd wedding anniversary!

Dad saved my old bike from when I was Sonoma's age!  Couldn't believe he still had it!

Auntie K came into town on Saturday afternoon!  Sonoma can now say "Krista" pretty well.

Snack time at Sonoma's new turtle table/stool

Rainy day at the College Mall

Sonoma LOVED playing with by herself with Krista

Dad asked me if he could take Sonoma for the morning to run an errand in Brown County.  I told him of course that was fine, but I also warned him of Sonoma's random tantrums, refusal most of the time to sit in her car seat after going anywhere, and quicker than lightning ability to run away when you let go of her hand.  I wished him luck after giving him the proper warnings and kept my iPhone glued to me while he was gone.  I started to worry when I realized they had been gone THREE hours and I had not heard from my Dad!  However, they had a PERFECT time together and of course, Sonoma was a little angel for him.  Can you believe it?  I was honestly shocked.  Dad took her to the Brown County Nature Center and they had fun exploring the animals and insects, as well as hiking on some of the outdoor trails.  He even took her out to lunch afterwards and told me that she sat across from him in the booth, the entire time and didn't even sit in a high chair!

Sonoma picked out a frog necklace at the nature center gift shop and has been wearing it ever since.  She tells strangers that her Pa gave it to her.

I was happy to take Sonoma for her first Jiffy Treet after a fun dinner at Chickfila one night.  I am definitely feeling like a kid myself again this summer and I am NOT complaining!

Daddy drove down to Bloomington on Saturday night, just in time for a dinner of cooking out and homemade ice cream for dessert.  It was so sweet to watch Sonoma and Dixie run towards our car as he pulled up to the house!

We have one more summer trip to Bloomington planned and I am hoping to get good news from the doctor next week so that trip is not in jeopardy!  I will keep y'all updated.
