Big Girl Bed!

Last night was Sonoma's first night in her "big girl bed."  I took the girls out shopping at Oakbrook for the whole day so Marcus could convert Sonoma's room into her big girl room.  He painted her room pink, converted her crib into a toddler bed, put on all of Sonoma's new bedding and hung up her curtains on her window.

She sure was excited for all of the changes!  I was really sad to see her crib go, but we knew it was time to take that next step.  As excited as Sonoma was, I could tell she too, was a little sad to say goodbye to her crib.  Last night went much better than we expected and she didn't fall out of her bed!  We saw her on the monitor get out of her bed a couple of times, only to get a stuffed animal or a new book, but that was it.  She waited in her bed in the morning and called out our names, like she is supposed to.  She knows she cannot get out of bed until we come get her.

This afternoon, however, in her first "nap" in the new bed, well, that was a different story.  A complete, epic failure to be precise.  She screamed and cried and didn't want to go down for her nap ( standard ) but when we closed her door, she banged and kicked on the door and screamed and cried.  We tried to calm her down and we told her she didn't have to sleep, but she at least had to have quiet time and read books in bed.  I was doing my make-up later in the afternoon, and Cora was sleeping in our master bedroom, when I heard all sorts of commotion outside my bathroom door.  Sonoma had drug her new quilt all the way down the hallway into our bedroom and was running around the halls upstairs.  I put her back in her bedroom and was downstairs a bit later, when I found her at the top of the back stairs trying to put swimming goggles on.

Let's hope tomorrow is a better day!  ;)
