Cora is Crowned Miss Merry Christmas 2016!

Back in October, Cora was named a finalist for the Miss Merry Christmas Contest in Aurora, IL.  For two weeks she appeared in the local newspaper each day and people could submit ballots to vote for her and for the boy who would be named Mr. Jack Frost.  The 3 children with the most votes were submitted into a hat and the two names were drawn out last night at the City Hall city meeting that we all attended.  It was such a nerve wracking event with so many important city officials there, and the children anxiously waiting for the results to be announced!  Check out this video below.  Right before the announcement Cora and Sonoma had their eyes closed, fingers crossed and Cora kept chanting, "I hope I win, I hope I win."  We honestly did not think she would win, and we kept telling her that all the kids are winners, and she made it so far.  From this video, you can see her pure joy and excitement when her name is called.  I have never seen Cora so happy and excited before.  It was such an amazing moment!

Cora will get to be a part of the Winter Lights Festival parade next Friday November 18th.  She will also assist the Mayor in the lighting of the big city Christmas tree.  We have gone to the downtown lighting every year since Sonoma was little, so this is really special that Cora will get to be such a big part of the event!  We can't wait to see so many of our friends there for the annual event next week and to cheer on Cora!

Cora received a certificate, a Christmas goodie bag with all sorts of treats and gifts as well as gift cards!
