On November 3rd just after midnight, the Chicago Cubs won the 2016 WORLD SERIES!! For the first time since 1908, 108 years later, they are World Series CHAMPS. Being from Indiana, Marcus and I did not grow up being baseball fans. I grew up a die hard basketball fan and a football fan as well. When Marcus lived in Boston, he turned me into a Red Sox fan and that's always been our team. However, we have always cheered for the Cubs since moving to Chicago 9 years ago.
Even though we have not been life long Cubs fan, just being up here to witness such an extraordinary event...history being made....there truly are no words for the excitement that surrounds Chicago! As soon as the Cubs won ( we stayed up way late to watch! ), fireworks lit up the sky like the 4th of July, and we are 40 miles West of the city! It was incredible!! People are still on a high up here....everywhere you go, everyone is happy, excited, wearing Cubs gear, flying the W flag and super hyped up. We told the girls that they witnessed history being made in Chicago and that this was a day they will remember for the rest of their lives. Sonoma even wrote about it in her diary. So special.
The 7th largest gathering in human history! - this is so fascinating! I would have loved to be downtown for the parade and all of the hoopla, but I just couldn't imagine bringing a newborn to an event like that with FIVE MILLION people.

It was pretty special that The Cubs won the World Series in 2016, the same year that Blakesley was born. Something we will remember forever.
