This was our first Thanksgiving ever to stay home and cook. We were so excited about a relaxing, low key holiday weekend. Last Monday, three days before, Cora, Blakesley and I were having a great day. I took Cora to a video shoot for a modeling job in the morning, and then we spent the rest of the day at the Fashion Outlet Mall of Chicago. It was the perfect day, until about 7:00 pm. Our washer,
( which hasn't worked for over 7 weeks, and I have had a repair person out about 7 times ) finally completely broke and it flooded our house. The last week feels like one big, exhausting blur and a disaster to say the least. With that being said, Thanksgiving was definitely NOT low key or relaxing, but we did make the best of our time together, and we are very thankful for our good health and family.

| Last Monday at the mall, Cora was crying to get a picture with Santa. There you go, Cora - I got your picture with Santa ;) |

| Home Monday afternoon playing with Blakesley and waiting on Sissy to get off the bus. Cora has always wanted one of these big lollipops. She was such a good shopper with me at the mall so she finally got one! |

| The start of our flood. The washer kept filling and filling and finally blew open the door and it was like a waterfall in our house. Flooded the hallway, through the ceiling of the dining room, in the dining room, through that ceiling and down to the basement |
After a plumber came out, we called an emergency water mitigation crew who showed up 5 hours later at 12:00 AM and worked all night cutting out the dry wall, draining the water, and setting up huge dryers and dehumidifiers throughout our whole house. It was the loudest experience ever, and kept us all up all night long.

The rest of the week we were so tired and sick of the noise and dust from the fans, but we were lucky that the mitigation was indeed successful. The fans were up from Monday night through Friday afternoon. We split up our laundry at different friends and neighbors' houses, the dry cleaners, a professional laundry service and the laundry mat.
We are for sure thankful, grateful and blessed to have such supportive and sweet friends and neighbors. It definitely helps since we don't have any family here.
We decided to move forward with cooking since we had already purchased a local turkey and all of the ingredients for our meal. My friend and neighbor invited us over for the morning to give the girls and I a break from the noise, wind and mess at our house.

| It was a beautiful bird! |
 |
| Blakesley is what we are all so thankful for this Thanksgiving. She brings all of us SO much joy! |
 |
| The girls were so sad we couldn't eat in our pretty dining room. But, at least we had the breakfast room! We tried Blakesley out in the Bumbo seat for the first time. She's still a little small for it. |
